Lyrical rapper J.Cole is back with a new single Middle Child which feels like a squeal to False Prophets. J.Cole gives his assessment of the the current state of hip hop as an art form and as an industry. Cole referrers to himself as the middle child he sees himself as a bridge between the old and new generation of rappers. The production is vintage Cole minimal raw nostalgic hip hop beat the perfect backdrop for Cole’s lyrical flow.

Cole references Drake’s and Kanye’s beef with a few choice words: 'If I smoke a rapper, it's gon' be legit / It won't be for clout, it won't be for fame / It won't be 'cause my shit ain't sellin' the same. Cole seemingly talks directly to Kanye with this next line 'It won't be to sell you my latest lil' sneakers / It won't be 'cause some n**** slid in my lane.'
